Why is the MLC so blue?
March 19, 2009 – 1:35 PMWhy is the Miller Learning Center’s rotunda blue at night? UGA art student Tyler Jackson created the “Hues of Blue” installation as part of the MLC’s featured art project.
In his artist’s statement, Tyler writes, “This piece, visible only at night, is a study of light and architecture. Subtle changes in a familiar space or environment allows the viewer to become more aware of his or her surroundings and location. This piece attempts to capture that moment by interjecting a change in the normal atmosphere of a largely populated and high-traffic building.”

I think its cool. I just noticed it last week, and thought to myself…”Was it always like that?”

I thought SLC looked a bit different, hah it wasn’t there when I was a freshman or sophomore. I think it adds a really elegant look to ZLC/SLC.

I love blue, it’s my favorite color (unless it’s accessorized with orange, yech). But as this is UGA, wouldn’t red make more sense?

It makes it look like a lighthouse beacon haha something that people can give as a landmark

I have never heard of the MLC. But I did notice that the top of the SLC is blue now.

It is a waste of money and time. About 20 people spent a whole day trying to come up with a way to waste some money, and this is what they come up with.

Love it! It’s really calming, especially when you’re stressed about school work

I noticed it after the roof caved in after the snow and thought it was something to do with construction. I think it looks weird since the other windows are normal color… If all the windows were blue looking it would be cool.
