Map and Government Information Library Tour
Mar 26 2013
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Created by the merger of the former Map Library and the UGA Libraries’ extensive government documents collections, the new Map and Government Information Library is located in the sub-basement of the Main Library on North Campus.
Our mission is to provide bibliographic, physical and intellectual access to cartographic and government information in all formats.
Government documents have been an integral part of the University of Georgia Libraries for over 100 years. The UGA Libraries serves as Georgia’s regional depository for documents published by the Federal government as well as the official depository for documents published by the State of Georgia.
The Map Library is a research-level cartographic collection whose substantial holdings include maps, aerial photography and remote sensed imagery, atlases, digital spatial data, and reference materials. Its mission is to provide bibliographic, physical, and intellectual access to cartographic information consistent with the mission of the University of Georgia Libraries, with a particular emphasis on cartographic information related to the State of Georgia.
This tour is an introduction to these important collections, which serve the UGA community and researchers around the world.
Open to the public, this is also a “Blue Card” event for the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences.
