FABULOUS FOOD ART CONTEST

Remember when your parents told you not to play with your food? Well, this year the ASSET Awards Committee gives you permission to play to your heart’s content. Whether it is used as a subject or as an art medium, let food be your artistic inspiration!

Enter the 2011 ASSET Awards Fabulous Food Art Contest. The field is wide open, options are endless – drawings, paintings, sculpture, jewelry, posters, mosaics // abstract, cubism, expressionism, impressionism, pointillism, pop art, postimpressionism, primitivism, realism, surrealism. A few rules: No overpowering odors allowed; artwork should be solid at room temperature; and 3D artwork must stand on its own or you must provide a stand. Note: The exhibit cases are spoken for this year, so artwork will be displayed on easels (28in x 36in) and on tables (3ft x 6ft).

Sign up deadline: Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. by emailing Ethan Brown (ethan87@uga.edu) with your intent to enter, what you'll be making, the title of your piece, and approximate dimensions.

Art due: On the day of the Opening Reception, May 20, 2011. Please bring to the Main Library lobby by 1:00 p.m. Art will need to be picked up on that day, too, before 5:00 p.m.

Opening reception: May 20, 2011, 3-4 p.m. (Main Library Lobby). Refreshments and ballots will be provided!

Voting will be take place during the Opening Reception. Winners will be announced and given their prize at the ASSET Awards ceremony Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
