EXCELLENCE IN INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING

This award recognizes a person or group for excellence in instructing, training, or making presentations to library users, employees, or attendees at local, regional, or national seminars, conferences, or workshops. Delivery of instruction modules, systems, or services and internal on-the-job training may also be considered.

EndNote and RefWorks are significant resources that UGA Libraries provides to the university community. These citation managers allow patrons to collect, sort, annotate and group references. While this is extremely helpful for undergraduate students who want to format a paper, it can be a vitally important aspect of research, especially for faculty and their graduate students and assistants. Sessions for EndNote and RefWorks training are regularly a significant part of instruction statistics, with trainers meeting individually with students and in classes. The group has displayed a depth of knowledge, ability to keep up-to-date with new features a strong record of instructional skill. Recently EndNote and RefWorks trainers have begun to utilize library guides to provide training information.

Sandra Riggs

Sandra has been working closely with the UNIV classes for the past two semesters, embedding herself in the classes, and assisting with the entire process for the students' documentary project. She has become a wonderful resource, and a testament to the mission of the Libraries.
