BEST COMMITTEE/GROUP COLLABORATION:
Group collaboration, whether occurring as part of the Libraries' formal committee structure, a formally organized work group or team, or an informal group, is a vital part of the participative decision-making process in the Libraries. The group or committee's work may result in a recommendation or a final product such as a new policy, guideline, workflow, webpage or statistical analysis.

Given the vacancies in Database Maintenance over the last year, it is amazing how much work DBM accomplished! Crosstraining between the Marking and Maintenance Units as well as a dedicated and cohesive staff ensured that not only did regular Maintenance and Marking work continue, but significant progress was made on several large projects including:
- completion of processing and cataloging Senator Russell's office collection for the Russell Library
- processing of the Sidney Samuel Thomas Modern Literature and Biography
Collections for Hargrett Library
- barcoding of Georgia Room material
- inventory of Georgia Room material
- completion of processing the ETD backlog and work on the ETD database
- working with the Griffin campus and the Owens Library to ensure that their materials are represented in GIL correctly

This group, which comprises several departments, has worked together to prepare the holdings of the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library to move to the new Special Collections Building. The group is working together to prepare approximately 3500 collections. This includes:
- entering each collection into Archivists' Toolkit
- encoding existing finding aids in EAD for inclusion in the database
- cataloging each manuscript collection using MARC; loading records into OCLC and our local OPAC
- database development and maintenance
- creating finding aids for collections which currently do not have one
- barcoding each container for use in new building
The process is moving along quickly and efficiently, and it should be completed before the moving of the holdings to the new building.
