Vote for your favorite poster at Survey Monkey View posters in the exhibit ASSET 2008: “Attack of the Killer Assets” Movie Poster/Diorama Contest What? In the spirit of the ASSET 2008 theme, “Attack of the Killer Assets” and all of its accompanying B-movie glory, the ASSET Awards Committee has created a monster of a new competition this year—make your own B-movie poster, diorama, or 3-dimensional model! The ASSET committee encourages participants to be as creative and off-beat as they wish, while maintaining the integrity of this year’s ASSET theme, “Attack of the Killer Assets.” Some departments or groups may wish to create a poster, diorama, or other 3-dimensional artwork that “advertises” a video made by their group, others may want to advertise another group’s video (with permission!), and some may want to simply come up with an original idea for their poster. The posters and dioramas WILL be judged separately from the film competition. Here is a website that sells “B Movie” posters—you may want to browse it to get ideas. http://www.discount-movie-posters.com/bmovieposters.html Posters and dioramas can be made in any medium—homemade cut and paste or designed digitally and printed. Between the talented pool of staff members and the resources of the UGA Libraries, you should be able to find the help you need to complete your project if you ask around. Entries will be displayed in the Main Library lobby display cases, and the winner will be voted on by your peers during ASSET week. There will be an “Opening” for this exhibit (featuring special treats!) on Friday, July 11th, following the tour of North Campus. The winning poster or diorama will be honored at the ASSET Awards Ceremony on Thursday, July 17th, and the winning individual or team will be awarded a UFO (Unidentified Fabulous Object!) Who? Individuals, departments, or committees may participate. In order to enter this competition, you must email Kat Leache (kleache@uga.edu) no later than Thursday, July 3 with the dimensions of your project. As you plan your masterpiece, please keep in mind that the Main display cases are 117” X 34” X 12” in terms of usable space. The side cases are 20” X 54” and just a few inches deep. Depending on how many entries we receive, we will have to plan carefully for space. We can only include your entry in the display if its dimensions have been approved by the deadline. If you are working with a group, please designate one member as the contact person in the event that the ASSET awards committee has any questions or concerns about your creation. When? Please submit your poster or diorama by Tuesday, July 8, at 5 p.m. at any of the following places: Main - Room 222 (Florence King's office) SLC - Room 373 (Florence King's office) Science - Room 207 (Cynthia Prosser's office) Contact Kat Leache (kleache@uga.edu) or Sarah Schuibbeo (sarahann@uga.edu) if you have any questions. |
