ASSET Films 2007 and 2008

What?

In keeping with this year’s theme, which celebrates all things “B-movie,” departmental films should be designed in the form of movie trailers.  The films will be screened at the ASSET Awards ceremony and made available to watch online via the ASSET Awards website. A prize will be given for the film selected by the audience’s votes at the ceremony.

Films should draw inspiration from B-movies such as Ed Wood’s Plan 9 from Outer Space. These links can provide further examples:

Videos should be no longer than 2 minutes. Your group is strongly encouraged to practice in advance so that filming can proceed as smoothly as possible and so that you can be sure your video will be of the appropriate length.  The ASSET Awards Committee reserves the right to edit any footage submitted for this video in regard to time and content.

Who?

Departments or groups may participate. Departments or groups are encouraged to use their own equipment and film their own video, but assistance is also available. Each department or group will need to schedule a time for an ASSET Awards Committee member to film the video.

Each department or group should have one contact person; this person will be responsible for arranging the filming schedule and for any communication between that department and the ASSET Awards Committee.

When?

Filming assistance will be available Monday, June 9th through Monday, June 23rd, 2008.  Please schedule your department’s appointment as early as possible before June 9th.

Final, edited films must be submitted by July 3rd to Zack Bucek via the Preservation Department mailbox located at the Fine Arts Office on the 7th Floor of the Main Library.

Contact

Contact Craig Breaden (breaden@uga.edu) or Zach Bucek (zbucek@uga.edu) for any questions regarding ASSET Awards departmental films.
