Supplies

In order to respond as quickly as possible to disaster, the Libraries should establish a disaster supply area in the Main and Science buildings and at the Library Repository. The Main Library disaster supply area is in carrel 7M and the Science Library disaster supply area is in the storage room on the 3rd floor. Disaster supply areas should contain the materials most useful in the initial response to disaster and for beginning a salvage operation. Other supplies and equipment are available in the Libraries or elsewhere on campus as part of routine operations; they are listed below with their locations. It is also likely in an emergency that the Libraries would make some outside purchases from local merchants or from conservation supply sources. 

Disaster supply areas should contain the following materials: aprons, disposable gloves, boots, face masks, sponges, mops,buckets, plastic trash bags, barricade tape, flashlights, polyethylene sheeting and tape, paper towels, freezer paper, utility knives, scissors, clipboards, waterproof markers, and monofilament line for hanging wet materials. 

Keys to the disaster supply areas are kept in the Libraries Administrative Offices, the Main Library Security Office and the Science Library Circulation Dept.
