Document Delivery
NEW - Check out our new UGA faculty article request form for remote sites.
Faculty, staff and students at the University's agricultural, ecological and oceanographic research stations may request materials through their station's librarian or library services coordinator. Requests will be transmitted to the Document Delivery unit of Access Services Department - Science Library by mail, electronic mail or fax.
Loans
Items that can be lent will be sent by UPS second-day delivery as soon as they can be retrieved from our collections and processed. When an item is checked out to another borrower, a recall will be placed in the name of the Experiment Station borrower and the book will be sent as soon as it is returned. Requests for Main Library items will be forwarded to Access Services Circulation Office for processing.
To request the loan of a book listed in the UGA Libraries catalog, the station library will need:
- a Libraries' system record for the borrower, or the information needed to set up a record
- the complete call number (including any information regarding year or volume)
- the title of the item needed, provided the item is listed in the UGA Libraries catalog
Photocopies of Articles
Articles from UGA-held journals will be copied on the station account at the current Copy Services delivery charge of $.20 per exposure. Most stations will then charge the research account of the individual who requested the material. Once the articles have been copied they will be forwarded to the station library office by UPS second-day delivery. In rush situations, the article can be delivered via telefacsimile or by the ARIEL high-resolution image transmission system.
To request a photocopy of an article from a UGA journal, the station library will need:
- the complete call number
- the title of the journal
- the volume, year and pages needed
- the last name of the lead author
Items Not Owned by UGA
Requests for items not owned by UGA will be sent to the Libraries Interlibrary Loan Office, which will attempt to obtain the book or article from another library. When requesting an item that is not in the UGA online catalog, it is important to provide as much citation information as possible to ensure that the request is filled quickly and accurately.
